This is a great little wood splitter but not great for big wood splitter. If you have small, in diameter wood that's seasoned and relatively free of knots then you won't have a problem. If you start getting into some of the heftier pieces then you need to put your weight into it and you will need to have good balance because your whole body has to come off the ground. I worried that I would bend it but so far I haven't. It's certainly easier than an ax and easier on the back, but only for small pieces of wood. 1.5 tons of pressure splits wood easily by simply stepping on the foot plate and using body weight to depress the lever. Splits logs up to 18in. long and 10in. in diameter. Folds flat for easy transport, making it ideal for camping, cookouts and field work.
